Interpretationsanleitung

Mozart´s third Concerto for horn, which we named the No.4. Why ? The No.1 D-major is a fragment only, never finished by Mozart himself.

Mozarts drittes Hornkonzert, das wir als no.4 bezeichnen. Warum ? No.1 in D-Dur ist ja nur ein Fragment, das Mozart nie fertiggestellt hat.

3rd movement:

RONDO Allegro vivace p.18

The repetition of the initial phrase is in piano dynamics. Use a light crescendo at the last two measures here to lead for the tutti. Then, another repetition comes again but in piano dynamic, with a surprise bb-bb¹ jump (do the lower bb on T1). Now somewhat exhausted you have reached the haven but two last obstacles, the piano & pianissimo entrance jumps f¹-f². Well, do the first in mezzo forte & the second in piano. It brings the same contrast. But care for F1-T1 for the octave jump. It works super secure. The weak note is the bb during the downwards arpeggio. So the thumb valve might help here again, but just for this note. No confusion would be created as on both horns, the F & the Bb, the fingering is the same. And the last phrase has come. Care, please,  that the notes speak with equal dynamics. But lower notes speak easier if they are played a bit stronger. That is all now.

Die Wiederholung des Eingangsthemas ist im piano. Mache ein leichtes crescendo als Übergang ins tutti. Dann kommt das Thema nochmals, bleibt aber im piano mit einem überraschenden Oktavsprung b-b¹ (das untere b kommt mit T1 besser !). Etwas ausgepumpt kommst Du nun in den Hafen mit noch zwei kleinen Hürden: die piano & pianissimo Sprünge f¹-f². Mach stattdessen mezzoforte und piano. Das bringt den gleichen Kontrast. Beachte F1-T1 für den Oktavsprung f¹-f². Das funktioniert supersicher. Der schwache Ton ist das b im hinunterführenden arpeggio. Auch hier und nur für den einen Ton hilft der Daumenhebel. Da gibt es auch keine Verwirrung, da für beide Hornseiten der gleiche Griff gilt. So, jetzt kommt die letzte Phrase. Beachte bitte, dass alle Töne in gleicher Stärke kommen. Tiefere Töne sind natürlich besser zu hören, wenn sie etwas stärker gespielt werden. Das ist alles.
