Richard Strauss: 2.Hornkonzert (1943)

The Solo Part used by the first performer Gottfried von Freiberg. The part is written by Gottfried von Freiberg himself.   This part belonged to Hans Pizka , who sold it to the Richard Strauss Institute  several years ago. - Die Solostimme des Uraufführungs-hornisten Gottfried von Freiberg in seiner Handschrift. Diese Stimme gehörte Hans Pizka, der sie aber vor Jahren an das Richard Strauss Institut  abgab.

The third sixteenth in the measure at rehearsal number 4 should be corrected into f instead of f#,  even the photographic copied Strauss score, written by an unknown copyist´s hand, has f#, but that score is only the working score, Freiberg & Karl Boehm had  for the premiere. It is absolutely unclear if this sharp is a real sharp or just a courtesy natural, to remind the player about the f after the f# two measures earlier. Freiberg´s piano reduction, written at the same time as the solo part, has f. He also played f at the premiere & the recording three weeks later. I checked that carefully.

 Das dritte Sechzehntel im Takt nach Ziffer 4 sollte von fis zu f korrigiert werden, obwohl selbst die fotokopierte Partitur (von unbekannter Kopistenhand geschrieben) das fis hat. Aber das war nur die Arbeitspartitur, die Freiberg und Böhm zur Uraufführung zur Verfügung stand. Freibergs eigener Klavierauszug, von ihm damals selbst arrangiert, hat jedenfalls das f. Er spielte sowohl in der Uraufführung als auch bei der drei Wochen danach erfolgten Aufnahme auch f. Das habe ich sorgfältig geprüft.
